4x4 RVs

Over the years we’ve built quite a few RVs! The Ford E series can be found in a variety of Class C sizes, we’ve seen them all. We have the same guidelines for RVs as we do with the rest of the E series lineup, anything 92 to current can be converted. (2000/up for turn key installs here in NC or our CO shop) Most people choose to send them here for a swap but we can ship you a kit if you prefer DIY. We’ve sent these RVs all over the US and even overseas to Dubai & Chile. From California to Texas to Alaska to New York you can find a U-Joint Offroad equipped RV on the beach or a bit further off the beaten path than the typical 2wd RV can take you.

Our turn key 4×4 swaps here start at ~30k. Extras & goodies add up from there. Bumper, lights, onboard air, winch, etc are all options that can be seen in the photos below. Our conversion stands out for a few reasons. Every rig gets weighed before we start so the springs can be spec’d to the exact weight of the RV. Not underbuilt, not overbuilt. This makes a MASSIVE difference to the driving characteristics once lifted and our upgrades make the RV drive MUCH better than stock. When the RV leaves the factory it’s not spec’d for the weight that is soon to be added so the entire RV is under sprung from day one. Some RV manufacturers try to fix weight issues by installing a different sway bar or airbags to help but they’re just bandaids. No other 4×4 converter uses custom spec springs for the actual weight of the RV front & rear, especially with coils up front. Our new springs along with shocks, crossover steering, upgraded sway bars, and proper front suspension geometry make our RVs run circles around the competition. Yes, they cost more but the investment is worth it! Our brakes are the largest too! The Stage 3 axle comes equipped with 14.5″ rotors.

RV FAQs

  • Q. Why the 6″ lift? A. Our 6″ lift is the best all around performer. More wheel travel (benefit on & off road), best steering, handling & packaging (fitting an axle where it was never meant to be)
  • What RV should I get? This all depends on your needs and how much room you need! We don’t have any favorite brands/models/sizes, too many to choose from! E450s are a bit easier to swap and we like the longer rear springs if the RV you need can eb equipped on that chassis.
  • Whats the lead time? Both of our shops are usually booking 6-8 months out, email us for a closer estimate. DIY kits are 6-8 weeks.
  • Q. Why are the tires different sizes F/R? A. Multiple reasons. One is because of the larger brakes that come with the Stage 3 axle. We need a 17″ wheel to clear the big 550 rotors. For the rear we recommend our new 17″ dually wheels. These are wheels that we source, change the hub bore for the E series and then powder coat in house. There aren’t many aftermarket wheels available for the E series hub bore and we avoid spacers in the rear due to body clearance and safety reasons. Some RVs have enough body to trim for a wider stance, most don’t. The 285/70/17 we use up front is the same diameter as the 255/80/17 we use in the rear so there are no issues there. The 17s allow more variety in tire choices, a big plus.
  • Q. What do I do about a spare? A. In case of a catastrophic tire failure (very rare) the rear wheel (what the spare will be) can be run up front if mounted backwards.
  • Q. Do you have size restrictions? A. We don’t. If its a 92 to current E series chassis we can send a kit! 2000/up and we can build it here!
  • Q. Can you do a SRW or “super single” conversion. A. We’d rather not. There are a bunch of factors when considering this. One is the rear trac width, by going to singles with no spacer the trac width is really narrow, decreasing stability and putting more leverage on the springs & sway bar. This negatively affects handling. Another reason is that you need a tire/wheel with enough load capacity. This usually puts you into medium duty truck territory. The tires are massive, heavy, hard to source and expensive. And they kill your ride quality because they’re usually over capacity.
